Lauren Southern received widespread backlash from the online White Nationalist community after pictures of him with his biracial then-boyfriend began to surface on the web.On December 2, a twitter user pictures of Southern with his ex, accusing him of dating Muslim men in the past. In response, Southern tweeted:Southern may have realized that the tweet would not sit well with a large portion of his audience, and, in any case, promptly deleted it, but not before it had been archived and screen-capped.ResponseTW: tons of racism/misogyny.Daily Stormer.AltRight.com.Youtube./pol/.r WhiteRights.Voat.Stormfront.r MillionDollarExtreme. Yes, I think it’s important regardless of whether or not I think she’s a racist and sexist scumbag.
Just like I don’t drop the n-word for black people with whom I disagree. Disagreeing with someone doesn’t mean you should start using oppressive language for them.Context for those reading who haven’t looked at my comment history. I’m transgender and think everyone deserves to be called by the right pronouns. I don’t like Caitlyn Jenner because she killed someone and makes trans people look bad, but that doesn’t mean I should start calling her Bruce. That was a great response.
You actually changed my opinion because you realize the need to extend rights to everyone to have them for yourself.I had expected you to try and force pronouns on society (I’m against compelled speech). Instead of attacking your ideas I tried to empathize. If people called me she and her all day every day it would really piss me off to the point I would want to punch them in the face.So upon further review it seems the pronoun issue is more important than I previously thought.I still don’t agree with silencing detractors of the idea or punishing non-compliance criminally. There should be an effort to agree on the pronouns then explain why we need to extend the same rights to everyone.

This person you’re talking to probably wouldn’t accept any evidence to be honest. The huge red flag for me was her walk down the streets in Paris and being appalled non whites were there. She would deny that was the point she was trying to get across but it was pretty clear dog whistle to me.
I have a theory about her based on the pictures that the internet uncovered is that she dated a black guy that broke her heart then became a right wing mouthpiece. I’m like half kidding half serious about it. 'This person you’re talking to probably wouldn’t accept any evidence to be honest.' Not everyone is as stubborn as you think they are.
I frequent KiA and agree with a lot of what is posted and disagree with a bunch too (southern, Trump censorship, Jon Tron racism, pedophilia, etc.)I think Lauren Southern is an idiot. I haven't watched enough of her stuff or listened to enough of her to determine if she's a racist or not, but what tipped me off to her being an idiot is blockading ships illegally and getting mad at the repercussions that came with that. That's a thing that she actually physically did and was enough for me to write her off. I've argued with others on KiA about it.I think if you're going to try to convince someone of something, it helps to come with hard facts, not buzzwords like dog-whistling. And yes, I understand the irony of KiA frequently accusing people of virtue signaling. I would hope if a gamergater would try to convince an outsider they'd try to stay away from buzzwords too.So in short, I would love to see these racist quotes from Southern. Not because I don't believe people here, but because seeing legit evidence would finally put these claims to rest.
I just feel like people who defend Lauren, Jon Tron etc from accusations of racism have a totally different idea of when you are actually racist. In their mind a person would have to say 'I hate black people simply because they are black' before it's actually racism and everything else can be defendedLike people literally defend the ethostate people like Richard Spencer because 'He doesn't hate black people he just think that people work best if they live with other people of the same race, actually he loves black people and wants the best for them!' You start out in 1954 by saying, 'Nigger, nigger, nigger.'
By 1968, you can't say 'nigger' — that hurts you. So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now that you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is that blacks get hurt worse than whites.
And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me — because obviously sitting around saying, 'We want to cut this,' is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than 'Nigger, nigger.' — Lee Atwater, Republican Party strategist in an anonymous interview in 1981. Oxford defines racism it as 'prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism based on the belief that one's own race is superior' or 'The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.' That's pretty broad and what one person finds racist or sexist another might not.Can facts and statistics be racist or sexist or anything?
Who cares if some crazy person on Twitter with 200 followers says some game is racist. Who cares if some author on kotaku says something dumb. What impact has this made? What videogames have been taken off shelves? Who has faced serious repercussions from these things?Meanwhile, donald Trump is the president of the United states, republicans seems to be doing everything in their power to become a group of cartoony super villains at the moment.Sure, the left might bitch and jump the gun on calling people racist and sexist. I can accept that.
The far right however is actively harming my country in real, political ways. I say all this as a 'gamer' as well.
I've played games my entire life spanning every console you can imagine; the rise of a few loud idiots hasn't seemed to change literally an iota of my gaming experience.I, and most people, couldn't give two shits if some crazy nobody on twitter says some game is racist. They don't impact anything. I give two shits if kotaku (or, lets be honest, about 90% of culture journalism) says something dumb. Like it or not, devs listen if it makes big enough waves.
They DO impact my hobby. I've seen some of my favorite game series get censored, cut up, and dragged through the mud.
The Fire Emblem series and Bravely Default series both had fucked localization, removed features, removed dialogue, classes, and even removed entire quests lines.Trump's presidency has just as much blame on the democrats and how godawful their campaign and their candidate was. They had to try REALLY hard to lose to Trump, and by god they did it.
Note; I did not vote Trump. Most KiA folks didn't.Just because it's not happening to you doesn't mean it isn't happening. You know what?
The far right and their control of the government hasn't seemed to change literally an iota of my life experience. Does that make you mad? My priorities are not exactly aligned with yours. Is that unacceptable? Got that off my chest.I'm not pretending Trump did nothing wrong.
Lauren Southern White Nationalist Party
I'm well aware. I was out there protesting the immigration ban. But by god, do you really believe you're not allowed to call out crazy left wing bullshit because there also exists crazy right wing bullshit?.Firstly, hasn't bravely default and FE had amazing critical reception lately? Both of those series are amazing.
And we don’t think we’ll ever be prepared for that. – then “The Dead” ( ) is the best place to start. If you’re keen on high literature, we’re almost certain that the story will get you hooked up on Joyce! If that’s the case, then move on to reading the rest of the short stories in “Dubliners,” after which you should be all but prepared for “A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man.”And then – on to the mountaintop: “.”(We’ve never read “Finnegans Wake” either. Dablinci james joyce pdf download.
I don't see the impact you are saying there is.Blaming how bad Trump is on the opposition makes no sense. Why not just vote Democrat? I'm no Hillary supporter so you won't see me defending her, but blaming democrats for the republicans win is ridiculous.
Trump is unelectable, the dems tried their hardest to ruin him and no one on the opposing side cares. Trump is racist, sexist, morally bankrupt and completely incompetent for the position. The dems platformed against all of those things and lost. Blame the far right for being morons, not the left for taking a stand against the things I just mentioned.Speculation.Your brain is literally poisoned by KiA. I know because I used to sub to it and read quite a lot of far right rhetoric.
Come to find out it's entirely based on the cult of outrage and getting inflamed by literally nothing. This is the exact thing you accuse the left of doing.Despite what you say, what some idiots with no following on a blog site or Twitter say is irrelevant. Your side is actually weaponizing autism in order to sway votes. Also I know I come across as an ass, but I mean no insult to you personally. On the first point, I think he's mostly referring to localization changes to things that the devs thought wouldn't fly in foreign markets (FE changed a scene that could have been interpreted as being homophobic and removed a face-rubbing minigame, and I believe removed swimsuit costumes, Bravely Default covered up some of the skimpier costumes of the underage in the Japanese version characters). My understanding is that the bulk of the translations were fine, though. It seems strange to complain about that as if localization changes were only brought about by SJWs, though - Japanese devs have been editing/localizing their games for foreign markets since the days when Woolsey was translating SNES Final Fantasy games (especially with homosexual and transgender characters - see Poison from Final Fight, Vivian and Birdo from Mario, etc.). Come to think of it, Nintendo in particular has a history of doing this.
I'm pretty sure they just do these things because of how they think the public at large will react, not some random twitter nobody. FE localization also butchered a lot of the dialogue and personalities. One particularly egregious example is where a conversation between two assassins was replaced with a bunch of '.'
Another is having another character be obsessed with pickles for some reason. And turning the gentle giant girl into a female dudebro. And yes, removal of skimpy outfits and removal of the face rubbing thing.Bravely Second removed all negative outcomes of side quests so you always get the good ending so players wouldn't feel 'undue regret'. They also had an awesome looking class that resembled an apache warrior.
They thought it would be offensive and replaced it with. And of course a shitload of other costume changes to show less skin. And yeah I know localization isn't all the west's fault. But how the east perceives the west and their values plays a big role in how they design their overseas version of the game. DOAX3, for example, had the devs refusing to release in the west 'It’s due to cultural differences. The West has it’s own thinking about how to depict women in games media which is different from Japan Speaking personally, if it is a representation acceptable to the general people in Japan, I wouldn’t be concerned about it in Japan.
It’s a difficult problem.' And some speculate the giant bouncing tits goodness that is Dragon's Crown also had the Japanese devs lamenting these criticisms 'I loved Dragon’s Crown, but that title got some criticism. And it got extremely low points in some reviews.'
To your first point, that's fair, but I don't see what a questionable translation job has to do with censorship or sjws. And again, I reiterate, localization teams have been doing that sort of thing forever - you can argue that it's bad, but it's really nothing new.Regarding the negative outcomes of sidequests, that was removed due to negative feedback from Japanese players, and again, idk if that's really indicative of any fear of social recourse.Though the other ones seem to be more culturally-related, I don't know if that's such a bad thing. Again, they're just reacting to the changing social dynamics in the West - people see overly sexualized characters as kind of immature, and it affects how the game is reviewed and how the brand is perceived. Nintendo wants to be seen as wholesome in the West, so they take out some of the otaku pandering and sexualized girls. DoA Paradise doesn't sell that well in the west, so the devs don't release the sequel (and if they could make a decent RoI, you can bet they would release it). Mohawk class is kind of insensitive in portraying a real race of people as a job like a pirate or a ninja, so they replace it with something.I feel like none of the examples you provided really showed any kind of horrible censorship.
At worst, there were a few examples of cultural differences being considered in business practices.Fire Emblem Fates and Bravely Second are high 80s and low 80s respectively. I wouldn't call them amazing entries in the series, and most agree they're not as good as the predecessors. And yeah, most reviewers wouldn't be mentioning the censorship considering they're the people who ask for it and so wouldn't be bothered by it. You don't see the impact because you just found out about it. You wouldn't know what's missing/changed.We can talk a little election, sure.
I'm not blaming how bad Trump's presidency is on the opposition, I'm blaming that he got elected in the first place on the opposition. Once he was in, yeah, it was all Trump all the way.
During election though, it was DNCs presidency to lose. Any other candidate would've annihilated Trump but they stubbornly held on to Hillary going so far as sabotaging other candidates. Remember BernieBros? Remember smearing Bernie as sexist and not caring about minorities, straight up asking him if standing in the way of a female president is sexist? Remember Hillary's war on the evil racist sexist internet troll gamergate Bernie Bros? Haha holy fuck did that blow up in DNC's faces. Once Bernie was knocked out the Dems lost the support of a big chunk of Bernie supporters and didn't bother campaigning in the rust belt.
'You're a vile sexist piece of shit! Oh Bernie's not around anymore?
My best friends are mostly hardcore liberals, feminists, and some straight up socialists. More than a few couldn't in good conscience vote for either major party. You think the Dems did everything right yelling about sexism and racism and now you're flabbergasted they lost.
I think they lost because that's all they could talk about. I know this triggers Steven, but even Bernie himself said the left must stop focusing on identity politics.Brain poisoned by KiA?
Cult of outrage? Inflamed by literally nothing? Of course it's not personal, buddy. I literally just agreed that the Trump administration is awful and there is some awful right wing shit going on out there which I have personally protested in the streets and all I'm saying is the left is not innocent. They do some stupid shit too and it needs to be called out. So you paint me and 'my side' as far right autists swaying votes.
You sure aren't swaying mine. Can facts and statistics be racist or sexist or anything?Racism is something you do, a fact can't be racist but how you use that fact can be.Highlighting black crime rates in the US isn't inherently racist, If you understand that massive social inequality is what lead to those numbers and you highlight them to focus on resolving that issue of inequality it isn't racist. On the other hand if you use black crime rates to justify your aversion to black people and how they brought this on themselves because 'they are all criminals' that's pretty racist. Is someone racist for saying 'white men are responsible for a disproportionate amount of mass shootings'?Same deal, are you using to to say that white men are inherently phsycotic, violent monsters?
Pretty Racist. Are you bringing it up to highlight a problem with the media/mental health/gun control/etc? Not racist.the way I see it, in the past several years the left particularly has really ramped up labeling everything racist and sexist to the point of diluting much of the impact or meaning the words haveI can agree that the words have been overused lately but at the same time I have seen many people going the opposite way defining racism so narrowly that people like Richard Spencer or Donald Trump can no longer be called racist because 'They didn't literally say they hated black people based on their skin colour'.
